Newquay Cornwall

Situated on the rugged coastline of North Cornwall, Newquay boasts some of the finest views in our country of the mighty Atlantic Ocean and is known as a surf mecca in the UK.

Newquay's dramatic coastline offers unparalleled scenery, breathtaking walks, hidden bays and coves for sun worship, exploration and real outdoors fun. For the more adventurous, there is surfing, kite surfing, kayaking, and coasteering to name but a few of the activities available.

The perfect natural conditions produce an ideal surfing coast, which has tempted surfers from all over the world to visit Newquay and try out the waves. As such, it is now widely regarded as the surf capital of the UK and hosts the National Surfing Championships every year on Fistral Beach.

The Gannel Estuary is only minutes from Riverview and provides stunning views from the property and an opportunity to observe many species of birds including redshank, greenshank, godwits and curlew, among others. The constant tidal shifts provide ideal conditions for a variety of vegetation, forming channels of mud where wading birds feed on crabs and shellfish.

Although now a peaceful sanctuary for birds, the Gannel was once a prolific boatyard with ships of up to 250 tons being built. Iron ore was brought to the Gannel for shipment to Wales during the 19th Century. You can still see the remnants of the Gannel's halcyon days with small boats moored up here and there, often undergoing repairs.

Apart from simply admiring the Gannel's beauty, there are also opportunities to go horse riding, canooeing during high tide or taking a picnic and a relaxing stroll to Crantock Beach, which can be accessed during low tide.
